Privacy Policy

Cinemistry (“we”, “us”) lets you create a short personalized greeting video and share it with a link. This policy explains what information we collect when you use cinemistry.com, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details. Sign-in is handled by Auth0. When you sign in with email and password or with Google, we receive and store your email address, display name, and a unique account identifier. We never see or store your password or your Google credentials.
- Greeting content. The names you type (yours and the recipient’s) and the relation you pick. These appear in the rendered video and on its share page.
- Generated videos. The video files we render for you, plus a thumbnail.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps, pages requested) used to keep the service running and prevent abuse. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To render your greeting and show it on its share page.
- To let you sign in and find the greetings you have made.
- To apply fair-use limits (for example, a daily cap on renders per account).
- To secure the service, debug problems, and prevent misuse.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Share pages are public
Every finished greeting gets a share page at cinemistry.com/g/<code>. Anyone who has the link can watch the video and see the names in it, and messaging apps such as WhatsApp may show a preview. Links are unguessable but not secret — only share them with people you want to see the greeting. Your email address is never shown on a share page.
Who we share data with
- Auth0 (Okta) — authentication. Auth0’s own privacy policy applies to the sign-in step.
- Google — only if you choose “Continue with Google”. We request just your basic profile and email; we do not access anything else in your Google account.
- Amazon Web Services — hosting and file storage (Mumbai region, India).
We share data with these providers only to operate the service, and with no one else.
Retention and deletion
Greetings and their videos stay available so your share links keep working. You can ask us to delete a specific greeting or your whole account at any time by emailing rajeev.sarathe@cinemistry.com from the address you signed up with. We will remove the videos, share pages, and account record within a reasonable time. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to rajeev.sarathe@cinemistry.com. We handle requests in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.
Children
Cinemistry is not directed at children under 13, and you must be old enough to hold your own Google or email account to sign in.
Cookies
We use one session cookie so you stay signed in. Auth0 sets its own cookies during sign-in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be called out on the site.
